Help your parent downsize without taking over
Your parent may need help with the work without giving up the right to decide. Start with a conversation, not a donation pile.
Ask permission before you sort. Try: 'What would you like to keep close? Which things need more time? What would you like me to handle for you?' Write down decisions, open questions and who will do the next step. Do not infer that a sibling, a mover or RightSize can choose what goes. Pause when an item has a story or when relatives disagree; a move deadline does not make consent optional.
